Which is the more poluting?

The Porche which travelled at over 170 mph on Oxfordshire highways, using in the region of 10 mpg, or the 4x4 which does over 30 mpg and travels at somewhere just below or above the national speed limit of 70 mph... which is the more poluting?

Or could it be that the boy-racers in their little cheap Peugeot or similar who put foot down to the floor and double the speed limit in built-up areas, going through the gears as if there was no tomorrow... could it be that they cost more environmentally than either of the above?

Non-Road Oddments

Lets leave the roads for a while and read what was published first on 'Dog Agility Training'!

Have you seen about the dog which was voted guide dog of the year... all the finalists were so worthy - but the one which won was the one which was so savagely attacked by a Rottweiller - yet Roz got her owner home safely afterwards.

It was subsequently touch and go whether her life could be saved at the vets, but thankfully all went well, and she slowly recovered, and is now back at work!

Not dogs, but whales - "In August 2007, less than a year after resuming a commercial whale hunt, Iceland announced that it would end the hunt. They listed low market demand and lack of access to the Japanese market for whale meat as reasons for the decision."

The above quote is from HSUS... get their free email newsletter to learn about more animal based campaigns and stories.

Visit The Wilderness Society to learn more about how the Bush Administration could be the reason the Northern Spotted Owl goes the same way as the Dodo.

Illegal logging, cheap wood, and extra demand for hardwood floors, are all having a detrimental effect on the habitat for many species, including tiger, jaguar, orangutans, and many more. Read more about it at the Defenders Organization

In our 'neck of the woods' roads are being closed and work done NOW... just when the schools are back, and traffic has increased exponentially! Good thinking, yes?

New Plates

The new '57' plates are now four days into use. How many have you spotted?

I must admit I hadn't really thought about it - 'till I noticed one today on a BMW. Is that significant I wonder... or are there as many as usual 'run of the mill' new cars about this month?

It could be saying something about the state of the economy!
